Darktable is a FLOSS photo cataloging, editing and publishing tool. This will be a brief overview along with a demo of a functional workflow.
The Linux desktop has not been traditionally thought of as a powerful tool for media production but in recent decade powerful FLOSS tools have come from the Linux world and are gaining more mainstream attention. Especially in the face of popular rent-seeking subscription models from major software vendors. This presentation will cover a workflow that will get most photographers outputting useful work with Darktable and also go over some specifics on new features added in 4.4 and 4.6 that make it both more approachable and more powerful.
Among other things I'm a photographer, astronomer, physicist, mechanic, programmer and devops engineer. I've spent a great deal of time working with imaging systems all the way from spectrometers, astronomical CCD systems to your run-of-the-mill digital SLRs and rangefinders.
